Caught a small tope off Tramore strand last night.

#1 Post by jonnyj »

Hi all,

We caught a small tope from the beach in Tramore last night. Caught him with lugworm.

Im new to sea fishing and the fright we got. A shark of all things, any he went back safe. I was wondering how common is it to catch one from the shore like this.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies. Ya it may have been a smoothound so, I looked at a few images and it looks very similar. Must bring the camera next time.

The net men take small Tope out in Tramore bay but only in a very rough sea they are there but its about 30 years since anglers fished for them in the Rinnashark harbour at the end of the beach because they just were not to be got close in .
Hope it was a TOPE.
Lots of Bullhuss and Ray but on fish bait and not many use fish bait on Tramore beach.
still good to see new anglers turning up perhaps you might join one of the local clubs in Tramore.
