Penn Powerstix Pro

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

Penn Powerstix Pro

#1 Post by yngkmd »

i know the Penn Powerstix Pro has been discussed before but i though i'd ask to see if opinions have changed.

i need/want a new rod, has to break down into 3 sections as i ride a motor bike and cant strap on anything longer than 5 feet so was thinking of getting in the 15ft version.

anyone have any opinions on this rod or suggest anything better?
also recommendations on a reel to go with it would be recommended.

I had the 13ft version.. I loved it and wish I never sold it.. the only thing i didnt like about it was the moveable reel seat.. they have fixed the reel seat onto the rod so it doesnt twist around the rod.
brilliant rod for the money

my mate bought the 15ft version as his first step up from his very basic set up and even i (a person who is used to using some of the top rods out there) can say this is a lovely fishing rod... its light and responsive and casts well for beginners or experienced anglers... buy 1

I have a pair of the 13' powerstix and love them. If I was being ultra critical I'd say the tips are slightly stiff for bite detection on smaller species but none of us catch small fish so not a problem
