Report:

Cracking day so decided to venture a but further afield than normal so headed to North Wexford. First stop Kilmichael point - First time here, nice spot but tricky walk/slide down the hill to get to rocks. Spent an hour spinning for Bass. No luck but will defo come back here at dawn/dusk as there defo is a Bass feel about the place.

Then did the short drive down to Clones and got setup for the night. Again first time at this mark and was impressed.
Did a bit of 'casual' fishing for an hour or so while getting the portable BBQ going -Missed one good bite but was prob a doggie anyhow. Once the chicken kebab & burgers were put away, Neil setup his rod and we got settled in for the serious fishing. Was quiet at the start and then reeled in a tub gurnard. Wasn't of any size but a gurnard no less, my first in a long time and my first shore caught one! Once darkness things improved- I managed 2 Starry pups. First time
catching a smoothie and have to say they are a fantastic looking fish with mad eyes! They were only small but can well imagine the craic you'd have with a big one, so will be heading out to target them more often. After that a had a doggie (which was the only fish of any size) and then a whiting to finish off the night !
Neil had zero fish and was fed up, so eventually packed up and headed off. Alas no Bass again but my quest still continues and will revisit this mark when the tides are more favourable.
