new local mark does the buisness..
people..myself..
bait..lug,squid and mack..
rigs.. two hook flappers..
tide .. fully out
RESULT... decided to head out for a mini session around 6 this evening.. stoped of the dig some bait.. but found it had been nearly dug out.. it looked like a load of bombs had been droped on it.. creaters everywhere... so went to another one ...... got fishing around 7.15pm.. first hour was slow and i was thinking not another blank mark but then the rod tip went mad, a real flounder knock.. first fish landed and a nice size too... soon after that i was taking in flounder after flounder all to good sizes.. average was about 36cm the biggest was just shy of 40cm.. and a good plump one at that... about 10pm i got a knock which was a flounder bite so left it alone for awhile when the rod tiped slamed down,, what the fuc- is this i said.. so got stuck into it,, it gave me a good battle at the start for about 10 seconds and them gone when i got the trace in the flounder was on the hook less the end of him as my photo shows and what looks like teeth marks on the body... so it left me thinking what on hell was it..... never seen a flounder been attacked like that.... after that one the next fish landed was a double hook up flounder and turbot my first turbot in galway close to spiddal....... enjoy the photos....

Re: new local mark does the buisness..
It was probably a seal that took your flounder but there is also a good chance of it being an angelshark/monkfish.
There have been a few caught over the years in that stretch between blackrock in salthill and spiddal. They inhabit the shallow waters along that strech mainly in the sandy areas near mussel beds.

UP THE DEISE!!!!!!!
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Re: new local mark does the buisness..
last week i fished spiddal and as i was reeling in a pollock as it was about a foot under the water a shadow emerged and just hit it ! i pi attempted to pull it up out of the water and low and behold an otter was staring back at me with the pollock in its mouth and in his paws tried to pull it free and it dived down and ripped the pollocks body from it head so i was left with a pollocks head while he swam off quite happily but anyway thats what i reckon did that to the flounder. Nice report too
