just wanted to say a quick thank you to robin from the trap and tackle in bangor. far too often we only get the urge to post about something when an incident or event happens that has annoyed us to the point that we sit in front of our computer to vent our anger to the masses, but far too often good deeds go unsung. i went into the shop last week to see if the reel my 4lb wrasse from the causeway coast destroyed could be in any way salvaged. this is the only place i know where reel repairs can be done where you don't have to post the thing away and wait weeks to find out the outcome. i went in and explained to him that i thought the gears had stripped and it might be beyond repair, but within 10 mins he had the reel stripped into pieces across the shop counter and identified the problem. unfortunately the reel in question was an old model that's no longer in production, so replacement parts were a non starter. but he greased it up and did a bit of fiddleing with it and got it working again :P . admittadly there is a bit of an odd feel to it as some of the teeth are stripped, but it should handle the smaller stuff ok for a bit. in total he was working with it for a good 20 mins and managed to serve a few customers in between. so i asked him what did i owe him for the repair and he said nothing :shock: . he reckoned that because he did'nt have to order any parts it only cost him his time, so i put a fiver on the counter for him as i reckon if someone dose a job they should be paid for their efforts and he would'nt take it. a true gent if ever there was 8) . so what i thought was gonna be a scrap job, he managed to put bit of life back into and get working again.

some other guys would just say...its beat, and try and flog you another one.
so fair play to him for taking the time to sort it out for you al' 8)
sounds like a gent alright....

Its very nice to see a tackle shop taking a genuine interest in customers needs and taking time to try to sort out a problem. A big well done to Trap and Tackle.
Ya should a been here last week.

There`s none better than our Robin 8) He`s pulled me out of a few holes in the past.True gent :)
You dont get hospitality like that in any other tackle shop i`ve been in.

Robin is a top bloke and a real gentleman. He always greets all his customers that come into his shop with a big smile and is always happy to help you. I needed to get the top eye of one of my rods fixed the other week and when K2 brought it in to him he fixed it for him there and then. What more can be said - you wouldn't get service like that anywhere else.

I went into Trap & Tackle last year looking to buy a head torch. He had a couple of dust covered shakespeares and told me not to bother cos they were crap and he was gonna bin em! V honest.

Robin is totally sound, will always try and give you the best deal even selling at trade prices for rods etc.

Just a pity the Bangor area for sea angling isnt what you would say the greatest, but still Robin gives A* service!

I have used trap and tackle for many years now and must say Robin is one of the best. If you have a problem and he can help, he will.

Dos any one on here remember it before it was the T&T :?: The good old days when you could go in and part with the pennies to get a rusty hook or a model plane :lol:
