EILEEN Dalkey

#1 Post by masterkeane »

Vessel:EILEEN

Crew:Me and Eric
Duration:Long oul day

Tide:Low,ebb and flood

Weather: slight SE breeze

Bait:Rag, mack and squid

Rigs:Flowing,Feathers and various

Results: Lots of Pollock, Codling, Dab, Whiting, Gurnard, Ling and Dogs .

Report : Well meself and the eric lad planned a little trip for some different species yesterday so we got the gear together and left bullock harbour around 11 or so ...... We headed straight out to a mark for some cod and pollock and within a few minutes we where into some not too shabby Pollock putting up a good little scrap on my new Rod  Thanks willie ...... I picked up a decent codling on our last drift by this mark and decided mmmmmmmm thats my tea sorted but before i could put the little fella outcold he slipped out of my hand and away he went  my own fault !! So we headed out and beyond to a fairly reliable wrasse mark but for sum reason they had better things to be doin and didnt wanna show atall ...... On again we headed out to a good spot for a few raymonds and anchored up but unfortunately the dogs were getting the baits all too quickly , Eric picked up a nice little Dab and i also picked up a Grey Gurnard (my first ever) so although he was small i was over the moon ... With bait running low we headed out to do some reefs and picked up a load more pollock and a couple of codling .. Heading back for home we decided we would spend a bit of time chasing the makerel but unfortunately i only managed to pick up 3  We also had a class encouter with these dolphins that are hanging around the bay, a pack of them swimming and jumping out of the water within a couple of feet of the boat was a really impressive sight ... As we waited for the water to rise i decided to do a couple of local reefs and picked up a few more pollock and a Ling

All in all a really nice day out and the fishing wasnt too bad even though the raymonds didnt show
