attempted angling dublin, 10/06/10

#1 Post by corbyeire »

People: myself and shamoo

Duration: 9-11.30

Tide:high 11

Weather: nice and warm light wind

Bait: loads of peeler!

Rigs: loads of pulleys and 1 3 hook flapper between us

Results: a suicidal dab and 2 healthy shore rockling

Report:wanted to get out to poolbeg - but realised the transit couldnt get under the new barrier - how long is that there???

so change of plan - down to sandymount area for a look - a wonderful brown oxtail soup awatied that went out for 150 yards

so change of change of plan - we will go to kiliney, no we will go to dun laoighre - no kiliney

then feck it bray

got down and was met by weed - met 2 lads that were in greystones who left due to weed

after about an hour the weed wasnt so bad in close - but still heading off to sea with our rigs at distance

brought my biggest lump of weed back in - and was laughing at how there was a 10lb bass on - mark starting going on about seeing flashes of sliver - then out of the water low and behold a suicidal dab about 20cm - on a 3/0 half the size of him

some nice lady spining at the end of the pier gave us rag that some other anglers passed onto here - so the rag got the dab not the peeler that didnt seem to do much just feed other crabs at distance!

anyways 10 mins later got a good sized shore rockling on crab claws not the fine balls of crab we were putting out?!?!? /?!?1//????

and then mark saved the blank with another rockling

at this stage the tide was turning and the weed was going out further - but just didnt have the heart for much more of it obviously - with the fishing gods trying to scupper us at every turn

even a pint didnt appeal!

back home with haste then

nice evening to be out though

Pity aout the fishing lads. The barriers have been there since the end of last year I think, if you notice there are no clothes being dried on the railings or as much rubbish there now. The poor travellers cant get their caravans through

Noticed the travellers were much nearer the entrace to the place, only when we got to the barrier did I realise why - daft thing is I'd have taken the low roof van, not the high one if I'd have know

Ah well, the fishing gods have looked after me the last month or so, so I cant complain, plus my 1st shore rockling of the year.

Our south dublin bass mark will be unfishable for sometime seeing all that horrid weed out there - a real shame with the ban almost up :(

Yeah went there before the ban and the amount of weed even then was unreal! In saying that it's always been pretty bad with the weed.
