Species: Twaite Shad.
Specimen Weight: 1.1kg
Irish record: 1.54kg
Location: River Barrow,St Mullins
Bait: tazzie devil
Rigs:
Report: Managed to bag a specimen shad during my 4 day trip to St Mullims.I didn`t do as well with quantity of fish this year but at the start of our stay the fish were all a good size.
I even foul hooked a huge fish, much bigger that this one
but unfourtunately it doesn`t count
At a weight of 1.2kg this is a PB so i was still very happy
Saw quite a few specimen Shad caught this year.Hopefully next year will be better...

Cheers seanie
i recon the one that i foul hooked might have been as much as 1.3kg - 1.4kg
I lost bigger than that in the net last year
Now rules have been changed and the specimens dont have to be killed the current record could be in danger of being smashed in the next few years.Maybe it`ll be on the end of my line

Thanks Danny
They`re a stunning fish alright and they look great when they jump out of the water shaking their head trying to throw the hook

He had a good photographer Danny
If someone shows you a mark to fish, respect it and dont pass it of as one of your own, dont tell every man and his dog about it.
