Rods and Reels.

Hello Forum. I am looking for advice on rods and reels. I would like to buy a decent surf rod and fixed spool reel that will last for a bit. I also would like to achieve more distance when casting so any advice would be very much appreciated.

well for a rod i have the shakespeare salt bass rod which is a surf rod and find it a grand wee rod for a alrite price.its 11ft 6",2 piece and light to carry.i also have a shakespeare surf master reel which im not impressed with.i only have it about 4-5 mths and its missing gears inside when under a wee bit of pressure.but maybe i just got a bad 1.theres always one lol.i have a mitchell gita sw 700 fixed spool also which i find a great reel and for the price of 40-50 euro.they come in different sizes so choose urs.hope this helps

With regards to rods, "you get what you pay for" I can highly recomend Zziplex rods, they do come at a premeium,
but they are a rod for life!

century for me ha but the penn powerstix pro is 15ft long rung for multi/fixed spool and my mate bought 1 as a step up from the basic set up he had and already his distance has greatly improved using just a slowed down over head thump.. i had a blast with it and was casting over a hundred yards with ease and i was quite impressed with how slim and light it is... he bought his 1 on sell in henrys for 90euro ...

yeah buy a Century,,, if you want it to either turn into a travel rod in time or it gets stuck together in one peice
"Zziplex" Simply the best!! and you dont have wait a few years to get a new one,,, i dont

If you want a one piece rod get a Century If you want quality get a ZZippy simple as that Ive had awful trouble with my Century TTR and CM Crest getting stuck together or not going together at all ive gone right off centurys. If zziplex are out of your budget look at the Ian Golds rods.

ye most of the first batch of tigers broke even i broke some they had a few teething problems but i use a tiger some times on the field with no problem. you shouldnt judge all there rods on the tiger lets move onto centurys now shall we

Thanks Forum for the advice on the equipment. I will look at all the rods here and see what my budget suits. Well thats what I will tell the wife anyway. If i ever kick it she had better not sell my gear for the price that I told her I paid for it.

I have an abu rod for the 4 years .I believe new ones are very good for entry .to interimediate anglers alike. they are reasonanbly
priced too . entry 70 euro..They maybe worth a look.

Leaving aside the Zziplex/Conoflex/Century debate, have a look at the Greys range. They have a good selection of rods for different applications and offer good value for money. Also guarantee their rods for life.

well as far as i know you still have to pay for the replacement section! anymore you do anyway, i paid 56 euro for a replaicement tip section for a bze after it snapping during a cast!
