sardines
lads anyone know if there are sardines in our waters? when we were out on saturday jayson caught two what i thought were very small herrings but looking back now they were very like sardine

no kevin iv no camera on my phone or on the boat. i will get one organized. im pretty sure they were sardines though.we were fishing 6 rods, 2 with bait ,different rigs on the other 4 so there was traffic on the boat constantly as the minis kept filling up the sabikis. i was reeling in a double of doggies at the time so dident pay much attention until i was using it as bait.pretty sure they were sardine

There are shoals of pilchards our name for sardines along the south coast every summer.It is quite possible that you caught some.There used to be a big pilchard fishery in Cornwall where oil was extracted and the flesh salted.
