County Down Harbour (with pics) 7/6/2010

#1 Post by Dawsey »

People:Myself and a few work mates

Duration:7.30 - 11.00

Tide:high to falling

Weather:Drizzle, flat calm

Bait:Mack

Results:Pollock, Codling, Coalfish, s/s Sea Scorpian, Shore Rockling

Report:

After finally finishing all my exams I was itching to get for a chuck. I had happened to mention to a few folk in work that I was heading out for a session and the interest it received was crazy, ended up heading down to a pier that on it's day produces some great fishing. The "mob" included 4 fellas and 2 girls, all very eager to catch a few fish and have a good time.

The weather had been great all day until we set up our rods and a cast in, but it didn't dampen out spirits and the craic was still great. My mate Stuart was 1st off the mark with a decent coalfish on the 1st chuck which really set the tone for the rest of the session. Lots of micro Pollock until the sun went down then the fishing turned on.

The guys from work all know me as the 1 that is always up for a laugh but seen a very different side to me whilst fishing. Concentration from start to finish :P This resulted in getting well over 30 fish for the night and the others getting a handful between them. However this did not bother them in the slightest, one fella caught his 1st ever fish and was over the moon, was great to see.

After dark the shore rockling came on the feed, and I managed a few nice fish up to about 3/4 of a pound, which is for sure a pb for me. Also plenty of sea scorpions about after dark.

All in all was a great nights fishing and craic as company was interesting to say the least. I have included some pic's below by my dodgy camera man

Well done Dawsey and all the crew. I was looking forward to this report and it didn't disappoint. Well written with great pics, nice one mate 8)
Your first session out after your getting your exams over was a good one. You's caught a nice variety of fish between you all, it was well worth the trip out and it sounds like the craic was good too. Have a nice holiday if I don't get meeting up with you before hand ( chance would be a fine thing   ) and we'll meet up when you come back for some mulleting.

I was gonna save it for the hols mate but was dying to wet a line. Got all the gear packed but no clothes yet so I am gonna have to get sorted asap! Hoping to score another golden grey when I am away, maybe a flukey stinger if i'm lucky. Defo looking forwad to the mullet sessions on return, should be in full flight by then.
