ARRANGING TO MEET IN SUTTON.NEED SUPPORT.

#1 Post by sensor »

Hi Lads
So far only one person wanting to meeting up.If we are to go to the local T.D. and council to arrange a clean up day we would need more than two of us to make the impression that anglers do actually care and are prepared to act. When we do arrange this the Herald will do the story again.Would look great if there were anglers involved here.If not then any other clean up will be dealth with without taking anglers views or interests into consideration. We are then seen as part of the cause of this .Obviously people have many other things going on and cant make it but if you can, send in a quick quote so we have an idea of numbers, then we can contact the local groups and arrange to meet.

this is not something to be rushed. let the buracats do there work first .contact the td in the article let him approach the council and they will set a date and then we will all have a date to work off you will get more anglers involved this way.
but not just a group of guys going to rip up tyres .it has to be done to the letter of the law.this way any confrontation from the owners can be dealt with accordingly.

Totaly agree Twinkle that was the main reason of getting the first mail out.Was just trying to get and idea as to the support that would be available to help when we approched these guys.Dont want to be red faced as to nobody actually turning up apart from the local community and council workers.I know that they are doing their part now anyway but if we can get involved at an early stage it may stop or intervene some of the more draconian ways of thinking that some council members may have. Some of these guys are avid bird watchers and a very small minority dont like anglers "damaging" the surrounding areas of interest.ie bait collection.Dont get me wrong i to am very interested in the wildlife aspect of things and personally i do enjoy it when im out on a fishing session.Just some views are hard to change. The more of us involved the more people will take notice on our opinions and it may save a total ban in this area.As we know once the first domino tilts the rest will fall.Would be a shame as most anglers seem to quite enviromentaly concious i.e. not dumping car bonnits and hundreds of tyres in an area and making what can only be discribed as a big mess.We just need more anglers to take the enviromental approach although i doubt the people who done could be called anglers.
Anyway just tryin to gather numbers before approaching.nothing rushed. just an idea of interest in it.Seems to be quite a few views just not replies yet.
Cheers.

Count me in when a definite date has been organised. Would it be worth while in sending multiple letters to the TD in question in support of action as opposed to one individual making enquries??? There might be better chance of getting something done sooner rather than later? Recommend a Garda presence aswell.

I think we should leave the buckets at home if we want to make a point at this one. The whole issue could get muddied with the media if we take crabs out of those tyres/car parts

True they do have to come from somewhere but if the guys who supply you with crab cannot get enough to suffice need then you wont be able to get any from them. With this type of thing trends MAY occour and nobody wants that id say. Prevention is better than cure here for sure and id reckon anybody would have an almost impossible task in reversing a ban on an area that has been declared.Nobody is trying to stop anybody from getting crab here we are just trying to prevent that exact thing from happening.Lots of people from this site get crab from the area and want to continue to do so,and as mentioned in a previous e-mail people do have traps down but there was never any issue with them. They are well away from the high tide mark and are not intrusive like the ones placed recently. Its not just tyres its car bonnets and all sorts all over the place. We dont want anglers getting a bad name here. That is why we are trying to do this. Its certainly not to remove anything that has not been an issue and its better if we can have a voice in it aswell maybe.
