North Dublin - 02/06/10

#1 Post by Aurelien »

People:me

Duration:00.30 to 3 am ... High at 3.30 I think

Tide:rising

Weather:warm

Bait:peeler

Rigs:pulley

Results:3 hounds

Report:With the nice weather yesterday evening, decided to go for a last minute session. The fishing has been superb last week except for a big nice blank on Friday.

At least I met 4 very nice lads (Matt69, Jayball10 and I ashamed to say that I forgot the others codenames  and I'm not sure they would agree that I reveal their real identity on the website :? ) ... Thanks for the good evening :D

So take a few crabs in the reserve, load the gear and the security staff in the car and off we go.

Settle down at the mark, the weather was warm, and the sea flat (for a change).

First hour has been very quiet, missed a couple of bites ... As the tides was pushing in more seriously, bites became fast and furious with a lot missed  ... Decided to change the reel for one loaded with braid (and not bread  ), to see if I can get a better hook up ratio...

Honestly I didn't find it better ...

As I was landing a fish, my dog started to bark and I see 2 shadows behind me ... They scare the hell out of me ... Turn and see my dog facing 2 Garda ...

Nice guys, they ask me questions about the fish and one them took a photo for me with my mobile ... When you see the photo, one thing is sure, they don't know how to take photos :(

After the Garda left, the fishing slow down and finally die ...

So pack the gear and headed back home ...

All in all nice evening, a good hour of fishing and 3 hounds landed...

Tomorrow might be good as easterly winds are forecast ...

They were passing on the road and see my light. So they were wondering what a guy alone with a dog at 2.00 in the morning was doing :D ...

It has happened to me a few times before ... and they always approach you like foxes, making no noise and scare the hell out of you when suddenly saying "Hello, what are you doing?" and blind you with the maglite ...

Well there is always a few hounds around here in summer, one day yes, one day no ... but nothing in comparison with the big crab moult earler on ...

Love this little stretch of coast ... And I think after 3 years of fishing it at all state of the tide, by all weather, day or night and with so many different method, I'm only starting to have an idea of why and when some things happen :) ...
Can't wait for the end of the bass ban, as I have 2 or 3  in mind which may be worth trying ...
