People: Just Me
Duration: 10am to 12pm
Tide: Nearly Full
Weather: Calm and sunny
Bait: Feathers/ Toby/ Mackerel
Results: 2 Mackerel (pan fried for lunch), 1 small pollack and 1 dogfish, both returned.
Report:
Had a few hours free this morning so decided to have my first outing of the year. Caught the 2 mackerel and pollack on feathers. I tried some spinning but no success.
I gutted the mackerel there and used bit of the meat on the top of the head on a hook with a bit of lead. Just lobbed it out onto a sandy bottom (I think). Left it out while I continued feathering.
When I check the bait about 10 minutes later I thought I had a lump of weed but I was a doggie. First time to catch one from shore.
It was so nice I'll go out again tomorrow morning.

After yesterday I tried the same location and times today.
I caught the doggies with a bit of mackerel cast out not too far.
I think the bottom is sandy with some rock and kelp closer to shore. Am I likely to catch anything else on thesandy bottom so close to shore, or is it just the doggies?
