Re: old Essex rods any info.
I've a blue one in the shed a beachcaster with yellow whips and a beautiful white "grifter" style handle....
Its possibly the worst rod I've ever had but it belonged to my late father and is at least 30-40 years old. Not sure what he used it for as he wasnt a shore angler. He would have bought his in the UK in the early 70s I would think.

Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial

Re: old Essex rods any info.
they were the rod to have back then my father had a couple of them, a blue one and brown one rubber grips and pin striped whippings hollow fiber glass
then abu brought out the 484 and the essex went into a dark corner never to be used again

Ah yes the memories my old blue essex from ABC and my intrepid seastreak. More birds nests than a flock of swallows.
