decided to head out yesterday for the day with newly turned sea fishing fanatic vincent and my non fishing brother (who i belive came soley to annoy us an pass comment on how bad we were at fishing and what the right way of doing it was etc etc,,

) for a few hours in the nice weather.Had no real gameplan as to were we were going or what we were hunting an after a brief chat in the tackle shop was really tempted to head northbound in dublin as rumour had it some big smoothie catches had come in the last few days on the northdublin beaches..So after a quick chat with the other 2 and a lot of arguing i decided to head towards ennareilly were i believed there would be other fish around even if the hounds dont show

an we were on our way. A quick pitstop and a chat with shane h in bray and i was more confident as he heard of smuts showin around wexford an i hit the n11 in that direction. After a half hour of driving my non fishing brother was moaning that much about the drive and wanting to go the toilet that i cut my losses and stopped off at a beach in wicklow

. Fishing was slow for the first hour with a heavy wind blowing but it soon calmed down an bites started to show with a few doggies hittin the sand between us.My mate vino has been sea fishing with me now for a couple of months and loves it but although he has been catching consistently he hasnt really had anythin special yet and was hoping a hound would take his bait. After a few strong but not savage knocks on his next cast he decided to lean into it and reel in when to not only his but my shock as well a wat looked like an obese flattie came up onto the sand

to all our delight it was the biggest plaice ive eva seen caught it was a speciman..

. It weighed in at just under 3lb and measured 38cm and needless to say he was over the moon with his first real catch

We also landed 1 flounder and a load of coalies before we left, no smoothies but still a great days fiashing... he has pics on his phone ill put up later in the week wen i get them transferred to my computer
