Re: Dunree
Thats not a bad result for two hours fishing Irishfisherman. Whats access to the shoreline like along there, is it handy or do I need to be a mountaineer to get there.

Ya should a been here last week.

Re: Dunree
tom if i where you i would forget about any climbing mate ,especially around dunree, can be very dangerous and there are some deep water areas around it aswell unless you know exactly where you are going.

Re: Dunree
Head around to the right hand side of the bay rather than the fort side which is where most people head, make your way onto the point and fish back in towards the shore. Its safe and you can expect a wide variety of species there, flounder, dabs, plaice, ray, dogs, coalies etc over the sand. On the other side of the point there is a handily enough accessed spot, you can even fish off the top of the point if you wish, that puts you onto foul ground with a mixture of your usual rough ground suspects, conger, pollack, wrasse etc with a hefty cast putting you on sand once again. Its a 20 minute yomp to get onto the point, maybe slightly longer if the tide is in and you have to go through the moors but well worth it, cracking spot.

Re: Dunree
this point that your talking about, would that be were you would park your car on the crash and go along the beach taking you to a big point which if you look left you would see dunree fort? we were going to give that a go but decided against the long walk on this occasion lol

Re: Dunree
I fished it once last summer, and had a great day there. We parked up at the fort, and went over the walkway. Deep water, with clean ground just a lob away. Caught dabs, and flounder there, with pollack and wrasse close in among the rough stuff. Will defintely go up there again soon
species count 2015 - dab, flounder, shore rockling , short spined sea scorpion, plaice , conger , lesser spotted dogfish , coalfish , spurdog , whiting , mackeral , cuckoo wrasse , pollock
