I was wondering if anyone can recommend any Marine supplies shop in or close enough to Cork city? My dad and I have a 15 foot fibreglass motor / rowing boat up in Galway (where my folks live) and I need to get hold of some new wooden oars and marine plywood.
I previously got marine supplies from Galway but am now based in Cork so would be handier to pick them up here.

Re: Cork Marine Supplies?
There are two chandlers in the city:
CH Marine - Based just off the Kinsale Road Roundabout - the Douglas exit - Ind est opposite the Topaz garage - Probably the best : http://www.chmarine.com/
Union Chandlery - Penrose quay - http://www.unionchandlery.ie/
I don't think any of them would do timber. I'd say Barrys on the start of penrose quay or Brooks or one of the other timbers suppliers (depending on which side of the city you are on) would be your best bet for the marine ply.

Thanks a million Jim, I work fairly close to the Kinsale Road roundabout so I'm going to check out CH Marine. Thanks for the tips on the marine play also, if CH Marine don't do it I'll get in touch with Barry's.

edit: oh see Jim got in first while I was writing this
oh well
You can get stuff from Union Chandlery on Penrose Wharf
http://www.unionchandlery.ie/Location/L ... ation.html
and CHMarine as well which is on the Frankfield side of the Kinsale Road Roundabout
http://www.chmarine.com/acatalog/Stores.html
Or Marine Motors would have bits and pieces over in Little Island

Carefull what you get when you ask for Marine Ply. You could be given Hardwood faced ply or WBP (Water and Boilproof). In many places its not stored properly and the lighter stuff especially can be warped. Ask to see it before you hand over money. If you are using it above the waterline either of the above will do anyway if you seal with resin. Good luck with the project.
