Report:Not much to report here lads, still must be a bit early for this mark to produce yet. Have plans today so it was always gonna have to be a quick session somewhere close, so I chose Orlock. Arrived at the mark and 2 gannets were diving into the water, got to the waters edge and there were loads of sandeels swiming around. Thought this would be a good sign but it wasn't to be. Bites were few and far between but I definately should have connected to a few more fish. Ended up with 2 Coalies and 1 Codling, all undersize so no pics i'm afraid. Maybe leave this mark for a month or so.
Nobuzz, I tend to fish the area of Orlock that is called Sandeel bay. Go through the fence take a left, up the steps, through 2 fields and there is Sandeel bay to your right. The name of the bay says it all, thousands of Sandeels arrive at this bay and the predatory fish usually follow. Now, it is very hit and miss but I've had some stonking days fishing there.
I often fish there next to the rusting metal staging( someone told me that it's the remnants of a diving board put there by squaddies in WW2!!?). I usually spin or float fish but have never fished the bottom. Have you? If so any luck and tips you would pass on?
unlucky rab. it's a spot i've only ever had macks from in the past. but we fish 100yards off the shore from there in the boat and have had some lovely wrasse, pollack and coalies. just can't seem to get them from the old diving boards thow .
