long lines

was walking the dog down near roney point on tue evening and the was a small red boat putting
out what looked like some kind of long line on a well know bass mark is this allowed !!
i would hate to think what damage the could do any body know is this kind of fishing is allowed

if you get the boat's name and number you can make an enquirey as to wether he has a licence to longline in that area or not, but you will need the boat info and location for a sucessful search :wink:

its not a fishing boat just too blokes in a small wooden boat they leave it on the beach at glasscarrig was down there today all the floats & buoy are gone for the moment but i am sure they will be back maybe the have a licence but sure the cant fish for bass when the ban is on!!

as far as i know, and correct me (lads) if i'm wrong. but if they do have a licence to fish the net, they should only be doing it from a registered vessle. and that would mean the boat would have to have it's number on it. i could be wrong, mabey one of the lads from the site who is more up on the laws in the south could shed more light on the situation :wink: . but fishing a net such as that from an unregistered vessle sounds iffy alright :x
