winding shape of line

#1 Post by Earlsie »

I had never heard of this until I received my new reel yesterday. Can I ask does it make any difference at all
or is this just the latest option no one ever changes.

My set-up is as follows: Shimano Rarenium Ci4 3000SFA & Varivas Avani Sea Bass Max Power PE (20lb)
(Reel Spool is fairly shallow) so I might benefit from it

Shimano Site Recommend with lines made of fluorocarbon and other hard substances, it is best to set the line to wind more to the front of the spool to avoid the problem of backlash

Cheers

I think I remember reading something like that with one of my shimano reels too, I think it was something to do with adding additional washers under the spool to adjust how the line was laid on the spool but tbh mine was fine out of the box and I didn't bother adjusting anything and I haven't had any problems. Just remember to under fill the spool and manually close the bail arm and you shouldn't have any problems with the braid.
