A quick phonecall around half 2 from dsull and an impromptu session was arranged in the Cashen for a few hours to pass the time before the nighthift began. As I arrived dsull had already set up and was peeling away mad, he informed me of the presence of that dredded sticky, stringy green weed and worse no fish in the first few casts. We decided a move further up the estuary might help us to avoid the weed and hopefully put us on the 'hotspot' but before we left dsull reeled in a double shot..... one being a 45cm flounder and the other 29cm not bad at all! Since I had already started the trek with his bucket of crab no choice was left but to follow me up the bank!

The first cast at the alleged hotspot resulted in a blank and more worringly a huge clump of weed! Luckily this was not to be the case for the rest of the session! The flounder came on the feed steadily and I was able to record three double shots including two 34cm, a 24cm and 33cm and by far the best a 34cm and 45cm flounder!! Two 45cm flounder in one session was definatly a good result dsull added a 28cm schoolie and a string of flats 26cm,37cm 34cm and 32cm! The sun had by now decided to desert us and the wind had turned very cold, this coupled with the fact it was getting close to work time spellled the end of this most enjoyable short session! Last cast produced a schoolie of 38 cm and a flat 30 for dsull! The 45cm flounder would later be weighed at just 1oz under specimen weight....... so close!! Pics to follow don't pay any attention to the dates the camera has mind of is own.

Work was certainly an easier place to be after a good session like that, dsull had a flounder jus scraped 45 and weighed in at 2.25lb whereas my flounder was just short of 46cm..... but never weighed...... was it 2oz's heavier???? Was it any heavier?? Was it a specimen I'll never know ha ha ha fiddlesticks...

It was weighed on a new rapala digital scales does this matter for the sea angler?? Though it is new I'm almost sure it wasnt certified??? This probably causes a problem.. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of those misson badges
