Sea Trout
Well lads, im new to this site and river fishing. I see Sea Trout jumping in front of me all day long down on the river, i was with one the lads and he caught one but it was only small and close in, We're using makeral strips on size 6 hooks, i dunno if this is the right bait to you so im wondering can anyone advise on a better bait or size hook for them. We've been fishing the same place for the last 2 weeks and we're only getting small flounder aswel.

Re: Sea Trout
Hi Dale, My mate in Kerry swears by blue head worms that you find under stones in the garden, on around a size 1 or 1/0 I think, he says to keep the hook hidden inside the worm so as not to put off the shy fish. he also got one 2 weeks back by trotting a 90mm trout colour Rapala plug downstream letting the water give it motion, nearly all the line was off the reel when he went to retrieve there was one splashing over 100m away

hi Dale, very curious to find out where on river seatrout are showing. is it estuary or further on into the freshwater. i've always found gold/yellow lures/flies stripped along at a fair ould lick to be very effective for seatrout. also early morn/late eves your only hope. brilliant sporting fish, good luck.

Re: Sea Trout
im not sure what its called tbh, its a good bit away from the bridge and its not very deep, id say the middle is 15 or 20 foot only, we got a small one this evening on the float, about a pound. we were gettin flounder all day, between me and one my mates we got 23 flounder and the 1 trout, the trout was only about 3foot off the bank of the river, got him on a mackeral stripjohnny joy wrote:hi Dale, very curious to find out where on river seatrout are showing. is it estuary or further on into the freshwater. i've always found gold/yellow lures/flies stripped along at a fair ould lick to be very effective for seatrout. also early morn/late eves your only hope. brilliant sporting fish, good luck.
