mayo beach mark 13-05-2010

#1 Post by saving private brian »

People; myself and a mate chris came along to experience beach fishing

Duration; 9;30pm-1;00am

Tide; Lw 00;10am

Rigs; 2 hook flapper,pulley rig

Bait; sandeel,mackerel,lugworm,useless mussel

Weather; gorgeous nite very little breeze

Report; got to the beach carpark at 9pm and had to walk for about 15 mins to our mark.i had a mate along with me who does coarse and game fishing so he was interested in seeing how this type of fishing worked.got to our mark and had one rod out with a 2 hook flapper rig for a bout 3 mins when i noticed the rod jerking while getting the other rod ready.i reeled in a seatrout that was amoung a load of weed.he was 1 3/4 lb weight.half an hour after that fish i reeled in another seatrout on a pulley rig to the weight of 1 1/2lb.i thaught i was on for a hell of a nite here.got these 2 trout on the dusk and after that we got a few small flounders which brought us up to around 11.30pm.tryed different cocktails to see if i could get something bigger but got notin.so at 1;00 am we packed up and headed back to the car.we were still happy with our small session and all fish were released to live another day

Good man Brian :D Was the bait a cocktail or did they go for anything specific? Sandeels are usually tops about now.
