Sat 8-5-10,,,Pennycomequick, co wicklow,,,,,,,,Myself and Neil had fished at Pennycomequick on Saturday night which hadnt produced much. All i got was 2 flounder and a coalie but poor Fishface only got a flounder,a nice fat one though

.Highlight of the night down there was when we (Neil) spotted a sea otter, only the third one ive seen in the wild, and it was worth the entrance fee to be honest and made up for the lack of fish. Rumours of bass and smoothies taken further down the coast a bit (we could see their lights and we flashed each other

) turned out to be untrue

 .
Sunday 9-5-10,,,,,,I went to Greystones to use up leftover bait from Saturday night(thanks Neil for the lug

). There was a French guy there when I arrived and as i set up he was telling me not to cast this way etc etc,to set up over this side of him etc etc,,,,,,,,,,,,red rag to a bull

"I'm fine where i am",i said "If you set up over here you wont be crossing me",he said.

"Dont worry about me crossing you,i'm fishing in close",I said. "Do you need the whole ocean to yourself",I said,,,,,,,,,"I was here first",came the reply."I'm here 48 years

",I thought to myself but being a quiet lad I said nothing.I cast out a ragworm in close on a single hook with the small rod and waited,,,"I'll show him", I thought to myself

,,,,,,,,,,but he pulled in a nice flounder ,,,,,,,,,on the float

 ,,,,,,,,,,,,Then another one,

. I got a nice lively coalie soon after which settled me down

.Then I spottted a big porpoise breaking the surface and called to the French guy to have a look. He came up to talk and we decided that we had gotten off on the wrong foot and would start again

. He said my coalie was a pollock,,,,,,,a white pollock as they called them in France. He headed off as the light faded and I hooked into a small doggie.I started to get a few bites and had another coalie and a couple of really small whiting in quick succession. Then came a nice flounder, on rag which seemed to be working better than the lug tonight.I was really enjoying it now and in one of the quiet moments I sat down and contemplated the last few days. I had travelled up and down the N11 to wicklow,I always admire the beautiful scenery

,,,,,,I had done a bit of Horsewhispering with the beach ponies at Ennereilly,,,,,,I been blessed to see a sea otter ,,,,,,,and now tonight I had seen a porpoise surfacing as he patrolled up and down in front of where i was fishing from,,,,,,,,What a wonderful world it is and what beautiful sights there are to behold

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Then a f*ck"ng rat nearly ran into my foot, the dopey ba&t?rd and ruined the rest of my night

.I was nearly finished up anyways, but after seeing 4 of our fat furry friends in quick succession I had had enough and it was time to contact the Enterprise and get Scotty to beam me up.The missus arrived 15 minutes later as i was packing up and unhooking another, larger doggie,,,which isnt easy to do when youre freaked out about rats. I 'll have to start tying bells to my ankles to let the rats know i'm around
