antrim coast

#1 Post by markh »

People: myself and jonny gilbert

Duration: 8pm till 1 am

Tide: dropping

Weather: dry with little wind

Bait: rag and mac

Rigs: flapper and conger rigs

Results: pollock, ballen wrasse, shore rocklin, 3 beard rockling, dogfish, coalie, conger

Report: headed up the antrim coast to a rock mark. jonny was first to get with a nice pollock around the 3lb weight then a few smaller fish while i was still waiting for my first bite. As it started to get dark the fishing started to slow down. i then got my first ever rockling i was well pleased untill about an hour later i caught its big brother and that made me smile even more. :D :D shortly after that my conger rod started to go and when i stuck into it i was surprised to land an even bigger rockling :D :D :D it was very fat and i could barely get my hands around it jonny guessed the weight around 2 1/2 to 3 lb if anybody want to give me a guess on the weight please do so as we had no scales with us. near packing up time jonnys conger rod went and he landed a nice fish approx 10 to 15lb breaking in a new rod.

excellent session guys!! that big rockling looks like a stonking fish  we've had them to 2lb+ and i'd say the big one would be easily that. defenitely a specimen there .(specimen weight is 794g). the irish record is 3lb 1oz.
