sligo and galway 1-2nd may

#1 Post by doggie3131 »

People:over the two days,al and jordan,me,goldwing polaris,saving private brian,lucky,davyp,determined dan,tornado8 mick001,

Duration:too long

Tide:all tides

Weather:sunny mostly

Bait:everything known to man!

Rigs:all sorts

Results:

Report:al and jordan were on one of there trips, staying with me for the weekend so the call went out to see if anyone wanted to join us fishing, lots replied so nine of us hit a sligo beach to try for bass and seatrout, not a lot to report about this trip, the weed was a nightmare and nine lads went home fishless.

day two was planned over a few bevvies that night and as jordan was chasing turbot and ray the marks were decided and we were fishing the first by 2pm on sunday, lucky and tornado8 were at the top of the beach and we were down the other end,i got a phone call from lucky asking about weed, the beach was clear down our side so the lads decided to join us,by the time they joined us i had landed my pb flounder of 37cm,and jordan followed this with a nice turbot of 27cm,and he preceded to do the jordan dance up and down the beach :D :D first one of the year for him,tornado8 had two flounder on the one hook!! and i was hitting flounder nice and steadly, then al got a nice one too, cant remember the size but al will tell all when he gets back to belfast.determined dan and his mate joined us,but over the next hour did not connect with any,so by the time we moved to the second mark the count was jordan one flounder and one turbot,al one flounder,me 5 flounder and one turbot,tornado8 two flounder, and the other lads blanked,we then hit the second mark and within munites tornado8 had a nice thornback ray about 5lb,and soon after jordan landed his first ray ever! at four lb a healthy fish and the jordan dance was preformed again but this time with a lot more gusto. :D :D we thought we were on for a great session but things quietened down for the next hour or so until it went dark, lucky having lost a nice thornie in the surf, then the doggies started and everyone bar lucky had some, then determined dan got a nice rattle and landed a nice thornie that weighed in at 7lb 2oz, lucky lost another big fish in the surf, and i think he nearly broke the rod in fustration! mick got a thornie at 6lb 13oz,that was the way it finished an hour later with every one except lucky getting dogs right up till we packed it in around twelve.so mission accomplished, jordan goes home with his two target species al was well happy,if i forgot anything and it is possible, as im frigging knackered! then im sure the lads will fill in the report :D al will post some pics later, and anybody that has pics can post too

just got all the pics resized and you have a PM mick  . yet another great trip with great company and it was good to finally put some more names to faces. we had a blast and the craic was mighty and the fishing was even better  . a new species for jordan and a new PB turbot as well. it really does'nt get any better than that (unless your name is lucky   ) how's that for irony   . doggie was the host with the most as we've come to know and was a top man for putting us up at his place for a few nights 8) 8) 8) and thanks again noel for the shakespear salt beach caster, it will be put to good use :D :D. and you were right again, as soon as you put your lucky fishing hat on jordan,,, in came the turbot    . i'll start the bidding for it at £50      do i hear £60 from the back of the room       . but seriously, we had a great time with some great company and we will be back to do it all over again in the not too distant future :P
almost forgot to say thank you to brian and tornado for the monster lug they gave us on both days  those things were like black sausages    . one of them was big enough to bait up a 1/0 pennel rig on it's own  . top men :)

Well done everyone, it sounds like you's all had a very busy but fun weekend.
Noel, that's a really nice turbot you got in the pic above - nice one  (pity about the hat   ).
A real SAI mini meet - wish I had've been there....it would have been good craic, maybe sometime.
Well done Jordan on getting his first ever thornback - the smile in the picture says it all!
