West Cork 27,29 April

#1 Post by rory from cork »

People: Myself and Brian
Duration: 2.5 hours

Tide: Falling

Weather: Light SE

Bait: Rag and razor

Rigs: various

Results: Bass, Coalies, Flounder

Headed out on short notice Tuesday evening with a few week old rag and frozen razor to see if there were any bass around. Weather conditions were good with a nice surf so we were hopeful. All quiet for the first hour and I noticed the slightest little tug on the rod and in came a schoolie about 1.5lbs who gave a good scrap for his size. Soon after Brian had another nibble but this time it was no schoolie and he beached a good bass about 6.5lbs. As the tide fell toward low water the weed appeared and it was every cast after even pulling the rod stand over so we packed it in early.

Brian headed back there last night and I headed to a mark in Cork Harbour with fresh rag....no bass for either of us but at least we had a few coalies and flounder. Brain was joined by MikeQ and had a nice bass on crab...things are picking up a bit finally but the harbour is still quiet...had plenty of bass this time last year from the usual marks

Nice Bass rory, well done.
It's a shame the weed appeared as the tide fell and you had to pack up cause it sounds like there was fish around. You could have eneded up with more. But sure, you can't be greedy, you got a fine fish anyway.
