waterproof smock

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

Hi John,

I had the original titan smock for years and it eventually wore out i looked around at what was on the market and asked loads of questions about the different brands of so called waterproof breath-ables and i got loads of conflicting answers so in the end i went for a top of the range gill yachting jacket matched with a musto bib and brace and have never looked back. These type of waterproofs are designed for the rough and tumble of salt spray a high abradision of yachting and associated disciplines.
I think its false economy to get the cheaper jackets because after a couple of seasons they either leak or fall to pieces.
Kstaff has always been the new black in my eyes anyway!!!!!!!

Indomitable spirit - never giving up or wanting to give up.

iv said this toa lot of people now, but the greys apollo smock is probably one of the best things iv ever bought. Lightweight, compleatly waterproof and comfortable to wear. Iv worn it in a f5 wind when it is driving rain for the whole 4 hour session and i was still dry under it. Couldnt reccomend it enough!

FWIW, I have 2 of the salt smocks and cant fault them at all and they come in a sight cheaper than the others mentioned. Bit hot for summer beach wear as they are fleece lined but I guess, if its sunny, you wont be wearing one.... :D

I have the salt one and to be honest I hate it. Casting is a pure pig in it its like having about 5 jumpers on and a stupid hood that gets in the way all the time

I used the imax ones also for a while I like them alot. Like what paul said there are alot of so called "fishing jackets" on the market that are not worth a f.ck. Some nice good quality jackets in outdoor/camping shops for handy money.

Ger get yourself a bigger size.... :D In fairness, with the fleece lining they are a little on the bulky side, havent had an issue with casting in it all the same. John, I've had no issues with these leaking yet despite numerous washes and abuse. Suppose there will always be a trade off somewhere along the way but for the money I dont think you'll go far wrong.
