silva l1 8) lensers dont last long enough the petzel mio come,s in a version with a seperate battery pack ,havnt seen one but they look good ,i suppose it all depends on how long you fish for and if you use rechargables or not ,i can get up to 5 sessions out of the silva with the battery pack ,and the light unit is nicer to wear with no battery pack on it

Just got my silva l1 from henrys today :) looks great, cant wait to use it! Going to get some good rechargables for it cause i usually fish at least 4 sometimes 6 nights a weeks so it would be worth the investment haha Looks good alright, looking forward to using it

take a trip to aldi chris four d size 4000mah rechargables for a tenner and 4 aa for a fiver ,i keep the head battery pack as a back up ,when you take the connector apart the first time its very stiff  just smear the edges with vaseline it will make it much easier to get apart in future and keep the sea water out

cheers all for your advice. I got the Led lenser H7 on ebay. Am impressed with it so far, but have yet to put it through it's paces.I see that headlamps seem to be a popular topic - this thread is kinda taking on a life of its own!

sorry guys you've all wasted yer money, the best headlight by a country mile is to be found in Argos, see
http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/part ... DLIGHT.htm
it is quite simply f'n brilliant, the brightest lightest inobtrusive perfection of a light, and I've bought a few!
It uses 1 AA battery at a time and is kind on them too, a pack of 4 energisers or duracell would easily last 6 months
In fact i tell you what buy it and if you don't like I'll buy it back off you, how's that? and at 25 notes it a serious must have
hope you take me up on it

I bought a energizer headlamp in tesco for 12.95 like the one here http://energizer.eu/files/flashlight_pdfs/hdl33a_EU.pdf and I find it great,if you don't want a long beam for distance its worth having a look at,its ideal for baiting up and walking to marks and has a great battery life as well, great price with battery's included

at present i am still carting around a tiga with a 12 ah sealed la battery, but for me every other headlight is now redundant due to a cracking product called a cree headlight.one of my mates from barrow showed me them.7 quid from ebay and a variable beam that is brighter and has a longer range than any other other light on the market.unbeleivable for the price ,and shows up the all the other lights to be a bit of a rip off.
cheers rab
