There isn't a plaice in any of the pics despite the spots. See pics below for a sure fire way of identifying a flat. Key to identifying a plaice and a fool proof method is the presence of bony nodules on the head clearly visible in the pic. Nice catch all the same Zeke.

If you can find a rock mark onto sand in a reasonable depth of water, doesn't have to be massive, fishing baits hard on the bottom should get them if they are around. Plaice on the beaches in the suds other than occasional juvenile fish are not as common as you may think and are all too often rogue spotty flounder. Decent plaice marks are hard to come by and most people tend to keep them tight to their chests so be prepared to have to do your own homework. You'll get one, keep at it..... :D

Calm weather, fish in daylight, decorate your snoods a little if you like and if you are being perstered by doggies try something other than fish baits, rag, razor, even big bunches of maddies. It may not keep the doggies off but its worth a try.

Congrats on nice looking fish Zeke. Any chance the smaller fish in the picture of the double hookup might be a Dab? Does anyone know a good online reference/source that shows clearly the distinguishing features of the different flatties ?
