Re: Hows your Lure fishing going!!
Not good for me from both East & West Cork
I have gone on 4 lure fishing sessions in the past 2 weeks at good rock & beach marks in Cork and have yet to catch. I tried almost every lure in me box, toby's, german sprat, xlayers, patchinko, maria chase, popper. I am putting my poor luck down to water temperatures and hoping in the coming month I will see a change / more agressive behaviour from the silver fellas and more pollock showing up. All those blanks will be made up for when I catch me first lure caught fish of the year soon...

Hi. It varies from place to place I'm afraid. Up here I'm still waiting to see the gulls diving for sandeels in my favourite spot, thats my signal.
Any rock marks around a cove or a stream mouth near you? There should be some baitfish activity there that might draw in a few predators. Never really found piers much good unless you're after mackeral.

Re: Hows your Lure fishing going!!
Well I recently complained about blank after blank. I've been out fishing regularly for a good while now with absolutely nothing showing....until yesterday when I got my 1st decent Pollock of 2010 - yeehah. I think they are on their way at last ! Feeling inspired to get out there even more than usual now..... here we go
BTW I got it on a 9" black/red-tail flutter worm fished with a jerk, hooked it close in to the rocks at St.Johns Point.

Complete disaster this year so far spent hours out with no succees from the shore but things can only get better in the coming weeks, the good will far outweigh the bad days come the end of the year

Re: Hows your Lure fishing going!!
Hey guys I just can't believe it, I've just got back and the place was alive !!!
!!"
I just can't believe how suddenly things have changed. I've been going out for nearly 2 months with absolutely nothing until yesterday when I got a nice Pollock. However we had a good high tide at 5.00pm and I started fishing at 3.30. At around 5.00 pm the water came alive with millions of fleeing sprat. The sea was boiling, it was a fantastic site. I quickly put my mack rig on and ended up with 3 nice mac and lost 4 - mac I presume. That went on for over 1 1/2 hrs and it was still going on when I left. I would say the game is on lads Whoopee !!!!
Another good tide tomorrow so I'll be out there again.

Pollocks ! I was Really looking forward to going out this evening but I was thwarted by the weather, wind in particular

I went out to have a look and decided that since I was there I would have a few throws, but decided that going home was preferable to being washed off the rocks

Ah well at least I live to cast another day !

Mostly the same up here in the north, with it being small Pollack being caught and a few Seatrout. Lets hope with May around the corner that things will pick up quickly.

Re: Hows your Lure fishing going!!
Its looking like it might be a good year for lure fishing, every session Ive had since 10th of April has been very good with loads of small Coalies biggest just over the 1lb range, some great Mackerel to 41cm & plenty of Pollock from 3 - 4lb to one I caught last tuesday which weighed 8 lb, the biggest Iv got in a few years from the rocks on a spinner.Hope it continues for the next few months!
Cheers Brian
