Lure Fishing In Co. Sligo 17th & 20th April 2010

#1 Post by FisherKing »

People:Myself

Duration:17th 2 Hours, 20th 1 Hour

Tide:17th Filling, 20th Stranding

Weather:Sunny but Windy

Bait:Spinner

Results: 4 Pollock & 1 Coalfish

Report:

17th

After getting a few Pollock & Coaleys two weeks ago, I was eager to get back for a few casts so grabbed the gear & headed to the rock mark.
With nothing for the first thirty minutes I got a good hard hit & was into a nice Pollock of 2lb which gave a good fight few pics & back he went. Ten minutes later was into another smaller one, so happy days with no blanks :D !!

20th

Had an hour to spare so decided to try for a Wrasse, but on arrival was greeted by a very rough sea & a fairly strong north westerly wind  .
Hopes were low but said id give a go,so on with the spinner first cast I got a good knock & was into a nice Pollock just over 3.5lb-between the fish & strong current it was like trying to pull in a fish twice the size
A few casts later reeled in a lovely little greedy golden/ red Pollock which was the same size as the bait! . On the last few casts managed a Coaley, great to see all the rock pools full of life again & the Gannets diving 8) !!

Some nice Pollock there.

The smaller Pollock are very cool aggressive little buggers 8)

Have you ever tried a small white teaser in front of the spinner/Lure? Its excellent for Pollock if there not hitting the main lure.

Danny.

Looks like a really big treble hook on the your spinners.
Perhaps a smaller one would mean more hook-ups and less snagging?

Just a suggestion, good fishing all the same

Cheers, usually use a smaller one but that was the only one i had that wasnt rusted, although still managed to catch a very small Pollock, you wont get snagged at this mark its fairly deep!
