wicklow pier, 20 april

#1 Post by corbyeire »

People:myself and shamoo

Duration: 5pm - 10pm

Tide: high around 5

Weather: sunny but cool in the shade with a bit of breeze

Bait: lug, rag, mac, sandeel, whites

Rigs: 3 hook flappers, pulleys, float

Results: codling, coalie

Report: not much to report about 14 fish in all - all tiddlers - bad return for 5 hours there - no minis or flats not even a dog

only point of note the 2 biggest coalies i had took floated white - in the daylight on the drop - some bait and a bit of craic on light rod

unfortunate to say but 2 foreign friends to my left were putting every tiddler in a large yellow bucket and not even knocking them on the head

they did have a doggie and a scorpian which they put back

tonyfella and co turned up later and had a strap but we had enough!

Hope you gave them the "Eyes" stare Brian   .I was there last Friday during daylight,3pm-7pm approx and it was extremely quiet,,,,1x pouting to save my blushes and as you say, it was cold out of the sun behind the wall. There were some Indian guys and a gal at the end of the pier fishing and they were putting them back  ,and some Irish guys with straw cowboy hats to keep the sun off their heads. I hadnt the neck to say to them that you dont often see cowboys and Indians fishing off Wicklow Pier   I suppose I may as well throw in the old "Still ,,,,it was good to be out  "at the end

I know how ya feel, I got myself a 2 week ban on the forum for a rant about our friendly foreign fellow fisherman( yes I did use a lot of "F" adjectives on that post aswell  , so thought i use some different ones this time to avoid another ban). at least you had a little action.
Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.

2010- Sea Trout, Codling, Pollock, Coalie, Whiting, Flounder, Doggies, Plaice, Dab.

I don't fish the pier in Summer as it annoys the crap outta me having to look at these mugs putting small fish in buckets,....more than once I had to be stopped from trying to kick the yellow bucket between the sugarloaves for a point ,so figure its not worth it anymore......and only fish it in Winter.
