west coast shore league(1st leg)/G.B.S.A.C open 19/4/10

#1 Post by chrisfeeney30 »

People:25ish anglers

Duration:12-4pm

Weather:sunny, warm with a slight breeze

Bait:various

Rigs:various

Results:flounder,plaice,turbot,brill

Report: First leg of the league was held yesterday on lettergesh beach. This was also the 1st GBSAC open comp of the year. We were greeted with a decent turnout on arrival, sun was shining was nice and warm and there was a bit of surf too. Pegs were drawn and everyone left the car park to set up at their pegs. First casts went out at 12 o clock and after 10 mins there were fish landed along the beach, mainly flounder and turbot. The lower pegs were plagued with weed so it made things tough on the lower pegs. I was fishing at peg 6 and there were rafts of weed in front of us. A lot of people put baits at distance as fishing in close was almost impossible. There wasnt much weed up the other end. Throughout the comp there were plenty of fish caught, about 60 fish as far as i know. I managed a small plaice along with two onther anglers and peter davis had a brill on at the other end. Peter atkins had a nice flounder of 41cms which was the longest fish of the day. Final results on the day were:

1st: Peter davis (10 fish)
2nd: Chris feeney (8 fish)
3rd: Colin hartey (7 fish)(not entered in the league)
4th: peter atkins/john peel(5 fish)

Well done to all involved was a great day out. Next leg is in Ballyreen on the 13th of June.
