re Clare direction

#1 Post by Conger »

Hi Lads

Did a quick trip down the Clare direction at the week end hoping to pick up a few species. Fished 2 marks to begin with, one of them we had to come off with the amount of weed whipping through, second marker looked perfect but nothing biting so decided to set up on a third mark that we had only ever fished once or twice and bang, Whiting after whiting after whiting    is it still a case that the water temp on the west coast is still way off

Regards

Seamus

i would have said the temp is getting better over the last few weeks and the catches reported seem to be showing more numbers of fish

I don't think a northerly wind does much for fishing around here. April can be hit and miss still. As for whiting I've caught them in the estuary well into April going on to may. Fishing into darkness will really help this time of year for bigger fish. Estuaries are also producing flounder in numbers to crab.

You didn't happen to be driving a white van on your fishing sessions?
