braid as leader with mono backing

just wondering has anyone tryed braid as a leader with mono backing surely with its thinner diameter it would be better and go cleaner through the guides but then also im probably wrong answers on a postcard please :P

There would be no give in it and it means casting with a risk to cutting those delicate fingers of yours.

Think you are right. The reason for the strong mono leader is to act as shock absorber if the cast goes wrong. Try a tapered leader if worried about line diameter? They are around 15lb at end tied to the main line and gets thicker up to 60-70lb at end tied to your rig.
