What is a good mainline for a multiplier?

#1 Post by IDPearl »

I picked up a mainline from a tackle shop which seemed to be good for a while, but does coil considerably after a few weeks on my SL20SH. Just wondered what you consider to be a good mainline with poor memory?

i have been using Ultime 'seastrike' and Shakespeare 'aerial' of recent. the line lay is fine and there is not too much memory on the line after usage. the best thing is it's cheap.

Trilene

The best mainline is Trilene big game by Berkley. It's expensive but is extremely tough and will last you years.

I use Trilene Berkley Big Game on most of my reels in 15lb and 18lb
I also use Ultima red ice in 25lb for the ruff stuff . Both are excellent lines and I have had no problems with them . George if you know someone going to America get them to bring you back some of the big Kilo spools of trilene . It works out alot cheeper than buying the bulk spools we get over here .

Have you considered using Braid rather than Mono?

bulk spools

How much would a bulk spool of Trilene cost around SOD. Is it worth getting reels as well.
