I took off to meet up with Paddylav and Doug only to find they had been fishing for an hour already (thanks lads ) but I had the last laugh coz with my first cast i must have knocked the turbot on the head and got the first fish of the morning a nice turbot about 40cm .
I was fishing one rod with a pulley rig on the end at distance , the other was firing out 2/3 hook flappers just into the surf , I decided the pulleys were a waste of time and used the flappers on the 2 rods , noticed the lug wasn't being touched either so i was loading the flappers mostly with sand eel or bluey ( all the fish were taken on either of these ) .
There were a few more anglers on the beach too but I never met them all as everybody was well spread out and Doug was roving the beach on account of the rod holder attached to the front of his Mitsubishi .
After the long winter I was giddy in the sunshine and myself and Paddy were like 2 big kids having the craic , I had another 2 turbot for the pot by now and Paddy had one himself ,unfortunately Paddy's girlfriend is practicing for married life and had him under order orders to be home so he had to go
I didn't have much longer to wait when i saw the rod tip go , but this is not a happy ending coz when I tried to reel in NOTHING HAPPENED
So to recap I had 9 turbot 1 flounder Paddy had 1 turbot , 2 English lads (Dick and Clive) had 2 turbot 1 plaice, Another 2 dudes had 3 fish I think and there was at least 1 more turbot from angler unknown.
And thanks to Paddy for transporting me down the beach and dumping me where he thought I'd get nothing , couldn't have done it without you ya blonde bombshell
