SAI Reef Meet,Carrigaholt,10/4/10 http://www.chillwithbill.com

This thread is to collect the names of Club Members for a reef fishing
boat trip. The boat booked is the Clare Dragoon. Detailed reports of the fishing
on this boat are here

http://www.shannon-fishery-board.ie/gui ... n_2009.htm

The theory goes that fish in this area are too busy spawning in March
to feed and are so hungry after all the fishy slap and tickle they go
on a mad feeding binge in April. Whether that's true or not, I caught a
specimen ballan on peeler crab in April. Also any number of
2lb whiting can be picked up and a 3lb fish must be a possibility.
Pollack around 5 or 6 lb are usually present and are often taken on 4
or 5 inch red shads. All the other usual suspects will show up as
well.

Report from last year is at

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=20895

Bill Ryan is a shore fishing guide from the area
http://www.chillwithbill.com/ and also
http://www.shannon-fishery-board.ie/gui ... n_2009.htm

Bill has 51 Irish Specimen Fish Awards, you might have seen him on
Wild Fishing with Henry Gilbey.

He has offered to sponsor a specimen competition on the day with a
prize of a guided shore trip. For the specimen competition the points
for each fish are a percentage of the specimen weight, so an 11 pound
pollack would be 11x100/12=92 points, the best three species to count,
one fish per species.

If you count me in provisionally I'll confirm 100% in the morning.
Anyone else travelling down from Dublin?
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.

Sorry guys, just doing a bit of research - didn't expect a 5 hour drive from Dublin
& wouldn't be able to make it down on the Friday night so it’s a non runner for me.

Good luck though!
