sligo beach mark 6/4/10

People:myself, kaylemf, brian (saving private brian) and jamie (polaris)

Duration:6 hours

Tide:rising

Weather:moderate S wind, dry

Bait:mack,sandeel,razor,squid,lug, frozen black lug

Rigs:various

Results:kaylem- 1 flounder
:myself 4 flounder, 1 bass
:Jamie 1 bass, 1 flounder
:Brian 1 sea trout





Report:Decided to head to sligo for an evenings fishing. Stopped for bait in a shore thing in westport and we were sorted.Arrived at the beach to see a massive surf, looked good! First casts went out with various baits. No luck. Second cast i managed a flounder of 25 cms. Blank saved :D. Later, i got another flounder, better size of 30 cms :). kaylem then managed to pull one out of the surf, 20 cms blank saved :). I then managed another flounder, a small one of 19 cms. Brian managed a fine sea trout down from us, didnt measure it but looked about 45 cms! His first so he was happy! I was next in on the action with a plump 33 cms flounder :D . Next cast i got a slack line, tightened it and saw the tip nod, felt for the fish then set the hook. Thought it was a sea trout until it was infront of me, realised it was a bass of 39 cms :D :D :D :D
Jamie got his first fish at the same time, a good sized flounder. Later, he managed to pull a bass from the raging surf! All fish were returned to fight another day! Brilliant session, il be back to give it another go soon for sure!
Ps was nice to meet ye lads, im sure we will meet again!

Nice fish all the same, you seem to be getting a good run at the trout. Now, back to Agusta lad :lol:

Fair play on getting any fish from that mark lads. I always found that a barren spot. Any bass in Sligo is a great result. Well done again!

Well done lads,getting two Bass from the same mark around here on the same day :shock: 8) never fished there was always told not to waste me time :roll: think Il be giving it a lash in the next few weeks!

Well done lads.
Thats some result getting Bass there at this time, it bodes well for the next couple of months. I am over the moon that you guys got flounder. Over a decade ago April was a great month for flounder from the beach, maybe it was because they moved more up the estuary as things warmed up. Its a damn funny beach feast or famine, loads of trout around. I think the place will get fished a lot more after these reports.
