People:me

Duration:4hrs saturday, 3hs sunday

Tide:rising

Weather:hot and cold then hot and colder then hot again

Bait:rag, lug and razor

Rigs:penell pulley,2 hook flaps

Results:1 bass and 1 dab




Report: Went west for a couple of days looking for a bass over 40cm. Set up on a mark where I got my first bass of the year about a month ago. Good surf and colour to the water so hopes were high. Not a tap for 4 hours then bang a 3lb 4oz bass, never so happy to see a fish. Was freezing,so packed up and legged it.
Got up at 6am to fish there at the same stage of the tide as the previous night. Got a good knock but missed, so re-baited and cast to the same spot again. The fish must have followed the splash because it was on the bait in about 30secs, hooked up and reeled in about 10yds before dropping it. Felt around the same weight as the bass the night before.Couldn't believe I managed to lose the same fish twice. Tried for another hour but he wouldn't fall for that one again, seems that bass are faster learners than me. Stuck on a scratching rig at the end and caught a small dab to save the blank.

Thanks everyone. Was happy out. When I'm catching schoolies I say to myself that I'd swap 20 of them for 1 bass over 40cm. Three and a half hours into that session I would have been happy with a micro whiting. Hard to win with these bass boyos.
