Strangford Lough, Co Down 6th April 2010

#1 Post by nobuzz »

People: Just me

Duration: 18:00 - 22:00

Tide: High at 18:30ish

Weather: Good

Bait: Sandeels & Black Lug

Rigs: 2 hook flappers (Size 4 hook)

Results: None

Report: Fancied trying a mark in Strangford Lough where I've sea trout on the fly later in the year. I always thought it looked like a good flattie mark so I thought I'd give it a go.

I wish I hadn't! LOL

I've never caught so many crabs in my life. Within minutes of casting the rod tips were swaying as the little @@@@ers! stripped the hooks!
Species List 2012 (Me) - Lesser Spotted Dogfish, Plaice, Codling, pollack, dab, SS Scorpion Fish, Ballan Wrasse, Codling.

Species List 2012 (Daniel) - Not got started yet :-(

unlucky alan. those wee bait robbers can start to melt your head after a while    we recently tried to fish an estuary mark for big flounder,,,, big mistake :( . from the start of the session until the end the rod tips just had the rythmic sway of crabs tugging their way up the rig munching every bait on every hook   but on the other hand you might have just found a bounty of free bait once the spring moult starts  beats the heck outta paying a pound for a single peeler :P
