Bray(again)!!!!!!!..1st-2th april

#1 Post by cretekos »

People:me

Duration:23:00-02:30

Tide: high around 01:00

Weather:dry with a breeze :D

Bait:rug,mac,squid,sandeels

Rigs:2 and 3 hook flappers,pulley

Results:whiting,rockling,codling,flounder(Ithink)

Left the house at around 22:00 and after a breathalysed pit stop in blackrock arrive in bray for a species hunt. Was thinking for greystones steps or a wicklow beach but don't know the places so I decided to leave them for another time, with a bit of light in the day.Was another car parked there but I couldn't see any lights at the end of the pier. turn out to be two lads fishing with few flounders rockling and a lots of crabs to report. They left when I was setting up leaving me few rags and squid, very nice of them. :)
Put a rod close thinking for rockling or maybe a scorpion, and I put the other no so far out towards the beach for the flounders. The rods were quite for while and decide to try few casts with the 13f daiwa surf breaker that got recently.I like it is more in my "size" lets say  than the 15 footer and I was happy to cast and no hear the splash of the lead :D First cast and a tiny whiting came on the hook, :D sweet :D Decided to use it with a bit bigger bait for doggies or any surprise that the see will throw at me.
Was reeling in another tiny whiting, in the "flounder" rod this time, when the scratching rod start slighting on the rail.Came out a nice 29cm whiting my pb so far. :D
About 5 minutes later the daiwa showed few bites but my attention was on the van and the 2 torch lights that was flashing at it.More Gardas  :o  ,which they where cool as soon they realise that I was there and was mine,so rebite and before cast it again, a 23cm rockling, second of the night, came from the beach side to cheer me up with another pb of the night. :D :D :D and as soon had the bait back in the water a nod and a bent gave me the first flounder of the year at 26cm. :D :P :D :P
Was already 1:30 when a car came down the pier .Turn out to be "plumster" & co,nice meeting you :) .They didn't stay for long and I had a codling on the scratching rod as they were pulling out of the pier.Got another 2 flounders from the beach side, one 36cm and one 30cm double with pin whiting.Lost 2 rigs on the daiwa on heavy weed around 2:00 but I found it excuse to test the bend on the rod. :D
Packed around 2:30.
Till next time

I was there last night Demetrios and a car sped down the pier towards me (i was on the bend) at about 60mph and jammed on at the last minute,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I tried to look cool and unfazed but underneath I was thinking of using the floatation suit . And it was such a quiet night up till then
