Re: Trace making
Buy a few shop bought rigs and just copy them is an easy option.
Heres a few common ready made rigs, just copy what you see.

Re: Trace making
Had a look on that lizardrigs website and the prices are great. I began making my own rigs because the cost was too much buying them for 3;50 a pop in the tackle shop. Only problem i wasnt 100% confident in my knots. 90 flappers for 55 you cant really go wrong there? or can you? will order afew today and let ye know.

Re: Trace making
i bought of them thru ebay last year cos partly i was lazy but also to copy and make my own as they were cheaper than the ones in tackle shops. when the order didnt arrive i emailed them and they said sorry that they were up the walls and would get them out as soon as possible. it took nearly a month to get them.
when i went to use them they werent great quality. i lost a few fish due to knots opening on me and ended up giving them to a guy in work to sell at a car boot sale.
just make sure you pull on all the knots to check if their ok before you use each rig and you should be fine. for that price i wouldnt mind 30mins work to ensure 90 rigs were ok for use

Stick to making your own rigs lads... personally wudnt use shop bougt rigs even if i was given them for nothig.. at least you now what your own rigs are made of when you build it yourself and you also get the satisfaction of catchin fish on them to.

Re: Trace making
When it comes to tying flappers, just buy the Mustad Crimpable swivels in size 7 I think. You will have a rig tied in a couple of minutes using these rather than the whole crimp, bead, swivel, bead, crimp malarkey for each snood. Some people have bad opinions of these, I do not. Used correctly (dont over crimp them and I only usually crimp one side) I have NEVER had one of these fail on me. I use them primarily for my flattie traces but have landed, with ease, bass of over 8lbs on them. Also used them on some boat traces in the early days before reverting to clear 4 way beads and had no issues.

Re: Trace making
Agre with Pete, the Mustad crimpable swivels things are deadly, easy to use and be careful not to crush the crimp part and these will do the job....no problems and have used them quite a bit,

Re: Trace making
checked all the rigs sent by lizard rigs found no problems with the knots. Just a couple last week and they where all ok. Still have a few of my own home made rigs in the wallet just in case. Always wise never to put all your eggs in one basket.
