hooklength breaking strain?

what breaking strain should the hook length be for all-round shore fishing be and does matter if its mono or flourocarbon.

A good all round hook length is a 20lb mono hook length, If your fishing in sunny conditions in shallow water flouro can be an advantage though.

Depends where you are fishing. Most of my Snoods on the east coast would be 12lb/15lb as I dont really need anything heavier for the type of fishing I do or the ground I am fishing over, even that line is too heavy for most of the fish I catch If your fishing over fouler ground or there are bigger fish there such as Ray, Huss etc then up the snood strength to help haul in a bigger fish or help with abrasion on the line.

yes lighter hook snoods do tangle and id stongly reccomend using heavier than 15lb. I generally use 70lb rig body with 30lb clear AMNESIA hook snoods and this helps stop tangles.If fishing over rocks for fish with big teeth 40-60lb hook lenghth can be used while the lightest id use is20/ 25lb for general fishing. Make sure and ask for memory free line like amnesia in your tackle shop for your hook snoods

Dont find that 15lb tangle too much myself..maybe if fishing into a rough sea but I would upgrade to 20lb to stop the tangles. Most of my snoods would probably be 15lb or 12lb for scratching on the east coast & I find them fine. Different strokes for different folks though

i used to use 15lb all the time till i hooked something bigger than normal last year. the snood snapped on the way in. on closer inspection it was all frayed like it had been bitten. never found out what it was but i use 25lb amnesia since.

the lighter snoods of 12/15 lb are ok on most beaches for flounder and the like but should you hit a good size bass you need to play it very carefully.over rougher ground i would go to 25/30lb snoods.the likes of huss and rays i would step up to maybe 40/50lb huss have teeth and can damage a snood very badley so check the snoods regularly.ray have large crushing pads which also can damage snoods badley so as im say check your snoods regularly or risk lossing a good fish.

you won't go far wrong with 15 to 20lb Amnesia, i've been using them for years.

I would go for 20lb Amnesia in black or clear for general fishing and step it up to 30-40lb over rocks or if expecting something bigger. I wouldnt go below 20lb cos find it helps with tangles and bait presentation. Also i check hooklengths after each trip and change them if any damage. Hope this helps.
