I've only tried once yet this year with lures from an East Cork mark but didn't have any joy. The weather is getting milder now though so chances are improving and I've heard some bass have been caught on lures already. Let us know how you get on!

Welcome back Kevin - I thought you had given up fishing.
I reckon it is still much too early to get bass on a lure on the south coast - even with bait fishing they are scarce.
Last week I did give lure fishing a go in West Cork but not a hint of a fish.
I hear a few have been caught on lures in Kerry, but the water temperatures are warmer there at the moment.
There are usually plenty of bass about in April on the East Cork beaches - although they may not be taking lures too readily.
I will be concentrating on bait fishing using big lug or lug/razor baits. However, if there is a settled spell in April it would be worth having a crack at the lures. Try slow retrieving diving lures rather than surface lures, soft plastics like Xlayers might work.
