A spot to go for me and the lad...

#1 Post by ka17614 »

I am taking the boy fishing on Monday and Tuesday as he is off school for half term. It might be wet but we dont care that much, just want to catch a few small fish and let them go again.

I have been out a few times, and caught rocks etc, been frustrating, is there anywhere, 50 mile radius to Belfast, that is safe (no rock hopping for a boy of 7), fairly easy to get to, and isnt a tackle graveyard. The prospect of huge fish and 20 different species is not important, actually getting to fish is.

Any ideas? I had thought of Tyrella Beach, but I am not sure if you can fish in a nature preserve.

Just want a nice day out.

Thanks in advance.

bangor pier not to bad at the mo for small whiting etc. easy access and tackle shop at the end of the pier for bait ,just walk down the main pier at the lifeboat station and dangle baits down the pier wall at the second set of steps . you can get coalies and pollack as well not big 1/2lb region put enough to keep him interested for a few hours . bait wise all you need is mackerel on a size 4 hook set on a 6 inch snood 12 inches above the weight .dead simple fishing
