Arklow Paddy's Day

#1 Post by herefishyfishy »

People: ,myself & my dad

Duration: 11.00am - 4.00pm

Tide: HW 10.30am

Weather: sun but wind 35km southly

Bait: lug, rag, sandeel, mack

Rigs: all sorts

Results: codlin, whitning, rockling, pouting and flounder

Report:

Arrived to the beach to find the wind blowning and the odd gust. Not like two weeks ago when there was hardly a breeze. Set up two rods each and knew that seeing bites would be hard if possible. Was looking away for a minute and looked back to see that a gust had blown my tripod over, looked closey to inspect the rings to find that one of the eyes ceramic insets was chiped and cracked. Great start to the day. If anyone can replace the ring for me in the dublin area i would be very greatful willing to pay the going rate and drop the rod out to them and collect. I'd rather give the money to someone from here. Anyway back to the fishing lots of small fish coming in very small ranging from just over 10cm to 17cm whiting. The only bite i saw was from a 28cm plumb codling. Flounder was roughly 16cm didnt measure him or any whiting just unhook and back for another day (hopefully a year as they need it), rockling were just around the 20-22cm mark. All other codling were about 15-19cm. No pictures as i can see the point in taken pictures of such small and common fish being caugh day in day out. Plus i dont want to have them out of the water any longer than they have to be. Well have to say better than going to the pub. Twice in two weeks here wont be back here for a while. Best of all going here when the parade is on in the town was the lack of boy racers driving up and down cant remember any. Aidan.

You have my sympathy there Roger,I heard about what happened  .Little known fact coming up;  I drove a tractor from Ballyshannon to Tallaght in 1984.....8 hours, and you guessed it,,,,the windscreen had been smashed by bold boys the night before,,,,,,,,,,,,,I had to be lifted out in a sitting position and I had the original Jedward hairstyle for 6 months afterwards    .
