Re: dogfish?
Dark, two day old mackerel (their sight is not so good and they forage by scent) three hook flapper, size1/0 hooks, not too far from the shore. You might not pick any up for a month or 6 weeks as I think they need warmer water. Good luck.

Re: dogfish?
i use a clipped down rig with 1/0's.
Fresh mackeral/ sandeel are the best baits in my opinion.I like to put the rig far as i can when targeting them but they can be caught within a few yards of the shore! Good luck

Re: dogfish?
if the dogs are there they will usually find you rather than actually targeting them. Any fish bait will pick up dogs

Re: dogfish?
makerel ,sandeels squid and herring or a combanation of any of these, will take dogfish, the rig i would use is a three hook flapper with 25/30 lb snoods, with size 1 or 1/0 kamazan hooks.i use these hooks as they are easy to remove from the fishes mouth.be careful while handling the dogfish cause there skin is like very rough sandpaper and will cause a burn if not handled properly,so dont let them wrap there tail around your hand or wrist.you have been warned!!!!!!

Re: dogfish?
2 hook clipdown, size 1/0 or 2/0 hooks, mackerel/squid/sandeel best baits, whip the baits on with bait elastic and blast it out, thats my opinion

Re: dogfish?
As Nige told you if they are there they will find you. Cram as much juicy makeral onto a hook as possible and launch it out. I find rocky bottoms seem to hold doggies as well as dirty weedy ground.
Quite a lot of people grump about catching doggies but many many many a blank has been saved by doggies.
 Always welcome in my book.
Good luck

Re: dogfish?
i'd agree with the lads, if there around you wont need any special tactics, they'll find your bait.
personally i love using a size 1/0 with mack on a spinning rod off piers for them
